Ten years ago, the Las Cruces Dog Park Coalition was incorporated and recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the IRS. On Saturday, April 27, the Coalition will hold its 10th Annual Meeting of the membership. You’re invited to join them for an Ice Cream Buffet at 2:00 p.m., at the University Church of Christ, located at the corner of East University Avenue and Jordan Road. (event is in the east end of the Worship Center on Jordan Road next to the church). Due to on-going construction along University Avenue, we suggest using either Solano Drive or Locust Street to get to Monte Vista Avenue and then onto Jordan Road.
The Coaliton will be holding a raffle for a beautiful quilt and t-shirts will be for sale.
The membership’s business includes annual reports from the Treasurer and President, the Board’s recommendations for two changes in our Bylaws (create an office of Vice-President and change the name of the Recorder to Secretary), consider nominees for full two-year terms as Recorder/Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, and several Directors, and possibly including nominations or other suggestions from the floor. The membership will also discuss goals for the current year: installation of a large, weatherproof, combination bulletin board and Rainbow Bridge Memorial (already approved by the City and a goal of the Coalition for many years), whether and how to get security lighting and/or an effective system for regularly watering the park to control dust and help drain urine and other waste under ground. There has also been interest expressed in adding at least one more piece of agility equipment.
Join the Coalition for tasty treats and a civil discussion to elect Officers and Directors. Please keep this meeting civil (no profanity, inappropriate yelling or personal attacks). This is in a church facility and professional courteous behavior is required. Unlike most public charities, the Dog Park Coalition is a democratic, membership-governed organization. Anyone in agreement with the purpose and aims of the Coalition is able to join the Coalition, speak out on any Coalition issues, vote at the Annual Meeting, and run for office on the Board of Directors. The board is not required to allow anyone to speak at any time or in any manner.
Las Cruces Dog Park Coalition is a 501(c)(3) charity (EIN 80-0449466). Donations are tax deductible.
