SHELTER OFFERS OCTOBER SPECIAL FOR PIT BULL OWNERS
The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is extending a discounted rate for Doña Ana County owners of pit bull terriers to promote responsible dog ownership and reduce the number of puppies that are surrendered to the shelter.
During the month of October, pit bull owners can have their dog(s) spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated against rabies for $30.
Pit bull terriers are one of the most common breeds seen at the shelter, and contribute greatly to the number of dogs that are euthanized every week. Since May 2008, the shelter has taken in more than 11,000 pit bull terriers. Of those, about 60 percent were euthanized. Only 767 were adopted out and an additional 385 were sent to pit bull rescue organizations.
Anyone who would like to schedule an appointment to have their pit bull spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated can call the shelter for an appointment at 575-382-0018.
