APA-Flyer_Pits for Peace 2015Seeking Supporters & Dog Hero Stories for 4th Annual PITS for Peace Fest

ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) is seeking vendors, sponsors, and participants for their 4th Annual PITS for Peace Fest, which will take place Saturday, October 31st, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pioneer Women’s Park.  The event will include vendors, raffles, dog adoptions, a vaccination clinic, a dog Halloween Costume Contest, and presentation of the Hero Dog Awards.  The event celebrates Pit Bull Awareness Month and the peaceful, loving nature of all dogs.  All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome with their families.

Do you have a heroic dog?  Submit your pictures and stories about your pooch to APA via e-mail at mail@apalascruces.org or via regular mail at:  APA, P.O. Box 125, Las Cruces, NM, 88004.  Hero Dog Award submissions must be received by October 15th.  To participate in the event or lend your support, e-mail us for the vendor/sponsorship form, or pick up at copy at our adoption center at 800 W. Picacho Ave. any Tues/Thurs/Sat from 12 to 5 p.m. or at an offsite adoption event held on the weekends.

The festival supports APA’s ongoing work in Dona Ana County to help our shelter and community reach our No Kill goal.  To this end, APA has rescued nearly 1900 animals since 2012, most of which were rescued from the municipal shelter.  They rescue the animals who need the most help:  cats, kittens, mamas with puppies, shy/timid dogs, heartworm-positive dogs, Chihuahua mixes, and many pit bull mixes.  Besides shelter animals, APA also helps place many former abuse-case animals from DAC as well as dogs from research facilities when retired.

APA operates the Furrever Home Adoption and Education Center at 800 W. Picacho Ave.  Days they are open to the public are Tues/Thurs/Sat from 12 to 5 p.m., but they are also available by appointment by leaving a text or voice message at 575-644-0505 or e-mailing at mail@apalascruces.org.  You can find them on other days of the weekend holding offsite adoptions at local businesses.  Check their online calendar for their upcoming activities.
